The Major Component Lead – Repower is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient execution of major component exchanges (MCE) on wind turbines, including blades, gearboxes, generators, nacelles, and towers. This role serves as the on-site technical and operational lead for crane lifts, rigging activities, and component replacements, ensuring all work is performed in accordance with OEM specifications, safety standards, and project schedules. The Major Component Lead plays a critical role in coordinating field crews, subcontractors, and equipment to deliver high-quality repower results.

Key Responsibilities
Lead execution of major component exchanges (MCE) including blades, gearboxes, generators, main shafts, nacelles, and tower sections
Oversee crane operations, rigging plans, and lift execution in coordination with crane providers and site leadership
Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA, GWO, and company safety standards
Conduct pre-job briefings, lift plans, and job hazard analyses (JHAs) prior to execution
Coordinate daily activities of technicians, rigging crews, and subcontractors on-site
Verify tooling, equipment, and parts are available and meet project requirements prior to mobilization
Serve as the primary point of contact for field-level technical issues during component exchanges
Ensure adherence to OEM procedures, torque specifications, and quality standards
Track and report daily progress, delays, and issues to site leadership
Support commissioning and functional testing following component installation
Identify and mitigate risks related to weather, logistics, and equipment constraints
Mentor and train technicians on MCE best practices and safety protocols

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade certification preferred
3–7+ years of experience in wind turbine construction, maintenance, or repower as a lead.
Proven experience leading or supporting major component exchanges (MCE)
Strong understanding of turbine components, rigging, and crane operations
Experience reading and executing lift plans and OEM technical documentation
GWO certifications required (Working at Heights, First Aid, Fire Awareness, Manual Handling)
Rigging certifications preferred
Ability to travel extensively and work at heights
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Work Environment
Primarily field-based at wind farm repower sites
Frequent climbing and working at heights (300+ feet)
Outdoor work in varying weather conditions (wind, heat, cold, rain)
Travel-intensive role with extended time away from home
Physically demanding tasks including lifting, climbing, and extended standing
